Add some flavor to your Reports

Bring your reports to life

Design is what brings reports to life.

This is what separates a beginner in Power BI from someone who truly knows his stuff.

Once you've mastered the basics, the design of your report speaks a lot about your skill level in Power BI.

You must understand just with the Foundations of Report Design you can transform your simple reports into beautiful Apps like Dashboard.

Everyone can create basic reports.

But do you want to stay basic?

In today’s world, where AI is becoming more powerful every day, being "basic" means you’ll be replaced by AI.

To stay competitive and earn well in the field of Data Analysis, you need to move beyond the basics and learn advanced techniques.

The button element in Power BI helps you do this by making your reports behave like an app.

Buttons support six different actions that take effect when the button is selected.

When you are inserting a button, many preconfigured buttons are available for you to choose from.

These preconfigured buttons include icons and preconfigured actions, such as the Back button, Q&A button, and Bookmark button.

  • The Back action navigates to the previous page. It's useful in drillthrough scenarios, allowing the report consumer to quickly return to where they drilled from.

  • The Drillthrough action links to a specific page. It activates when you interact with a visual that can navigate to this page. When selected, Power BI goes to the linked page, applying relevant filters.

  • The Page Navigation action directs the report consumer to a specific report page. The page can be a specific page that is assigned at design time or a measure that returns the page name. Using a measure allows Power BI to dynamically determine the page based on the filter context.

  • The Bookmark action activates a selected bookmark. Bookmarks can turn a Power BI report into a guided analytical experience, maximize available page real estate, and provide user-friendly interactions. Bookmarks are covered in the next unit.

Using these buttons helps users navigate your Power BI reports seamlessly, making data exploration and interaction much more intuitive and engaging.

By the way, to help you navigate the Power BI realm seamlessly, I’ve written the Power BI Design Mastery for you.

I'm telling you about this so that you can act quickly and take advantage of the lower price by buying it within the first 72 hours of the launch.

The launch date is this Friday.

So stay tuned for the next email.
